Baptism (Christening)
Baptism, also known as Christening, is the way you become part of the Christian community. You can be baptised at any age but often parents bring their children to be baptised as a moment of celebration and thanksgiving for the birth of a new child and to set them off on the journey of faith. Children are a valued part of our comunity and we offer lots of opportunities to help you nurture the spiritual life of your child as they grow.
Baptism services are normally held at St Luke's during the 10am Sunday service. Baptisms are free of charge. You would usually bring your child to be baptised in your local parish church. You can find out which parish you live in by visiting A Church Near You but do contact us if you would like any further advice about this or if you have a special reason for wanting to have your child baptised at St Lukes.
If you are interested in booking a baptism with us then contact our church office and one of our ministers will get back to you to meet you and your family and answer any questions you might have.

Confirmation
Later in life you might like to mark the continuation of your journey of faith by being confirmed. This is a special service led by the Bishop in which you declare your intention to live as a follower of Jesus and his vision for a world transformed by justice, love and wisdom.
Before your confirmation you will have the opportunity to meet with one of the ministers in church to explore your questions about the Christian life and your faith journey so far. You might also consider attending one of our regular teaching courses where we explore issues of faith through interactive teaching and discussion.
If you would like more information about Confirmation please contact the church office or speak to one of the ministers in church.
