Giving with Gift Aid

As a registered charity the church is able to reclaim tax on all giving to it that is made under the Gift Aid scheme. This allows us to boost the value of your gift by 25% - so that if you give £100.00 it is worth £125.00 to the church. There are only two conditions:

  1. You must have paid in the relevant tax year an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax at least equal to the amount that all charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs to which you give will reclaim for that year (25p for each £1 given). (Other taxes such as Council Tax and VAT do not qualify)

  2. We have to have a Gift Aid declaration to cover each gift, and be able to "trace" it through our accounts. The second condition is satisfied by givers completing a Gift Aid declaration, which simply needs their name, address, and signature, and which we hold on file to cover all their giving; or by the use of the "one off" Gift Aid envelopes that we put in the pews.

Gift Aid is a very important source of income, second only to Planned Giving - in 2015 we were able to claim over £14,400 of tax refund from HMRC.
