This specially assembled orchestra opens the Festival with an irresistible programme acknowledging the 250th anniversary of Telemann’s death and including Mozart’s best-loved concerto and one of Beethoven’s sublime Romances, as well as two scintillating short symphonies.

One of this country’s leading young baritones, who studied at London’s Royal College of Music and is quickly becoming known as a keen recitalist as well as for his oratorio and operatic performances, brings with his prize-winning accompanist an engaging programme of song cycles by three of the best song-writers ever.

ANDREY LEBEDEV (Classical Guitar) replacing Costanza Casullo, who is indisposed

Born in Russia and brought up in Australia, Andrey is currently living in London having been granted a full scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music. He was the First Prize winner of the 25th Gisborne International Music Competition for Orchestral Instruments (also recipient of the Bach Prize), the Adelaide International Guitar Competition (the only ever Australian winner), the Australian National Fine Music Young Performers Award (first classical guitarist ever to win), and the Sydney Eisteddfod Instrumental Scholarship (the only classical guitarist ever to win).

The Chorus makes its first appearance away from Norden Farm Centre for the Arts with a concert featuring two of Faure’s evergreen masterpieces and Mendelssohn’s popular motet including ‘O for the wings of a dove’. Nicola Sharkey sings her own choice of beautiful songs accompanied by husband Brian Cotterill, and Rhidian Jones plays Bach.

This versatile vocal quartet, known around Berkshire and Buckinghamshire for their entertaining evenings, are back in Maidenhead for this special concert. Their wide repertoire, ranging from the 18th to 21st centuries and encompassing genres from grand opera to musicals via art songs and G&S, is delivered with panache and style. Come and hear Mozart, Faure, Satie, Delibes, Bizet, Gershwin, Porter and Bernstein, tap your feet and clap your hands!

The internationally acclaimed Eton College Organist who is also a judge for the St. Albans International Organ Competition makes a welcome return to St. Luke’s for this second lunchtime recital and puts the Church’s fine organ through its paces with music by Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Elgar and John Stanley.
